For 20 years now, Caffe’ Borbone, produced and marketed since 1997 by the company Aromatika S.r.l., gives thousands of fans an espresso of the highest quality. The same goodness that draws inspiration from the dark and restorative drink that, way back in 1734, even made a King fall in love.
The story tells us that, on the morning of Monday 10 May 1734, before entering in Naples with the intention of liberating Campania from Austrian oppression, King Charles III of Bourbon wanted to stop to pray and rest in the convent of the “Friars Minor”. Right here, in the monastery of St. Francis of Paola, just outside Porta Capuana, he was ecstatic to taste a precious drink that the monks offered him. A scented and invigorating goodness from nature still unknown to him. That dark delicacy with a firm and full-bodied flavor and enveloping scent was nothing if not fine coffee. An intense espresso, painstakingly prepared by the monks for the new King who appreciated its invigorating properties in addition to the intense aroma.
